At Northwest Clinic for Children, we seek to provide the highest level of care through our highly skilled health care professionals and state-of-the-art technologies. We are devoted to addressing the individual needs and demands of patients in a warm and caring environment.

Our Physicians

Carl F. Irwin, M.D.

1968 Graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. 1972 Graduate from the Medical College of Georgia. Completed pediatric residency at Phoenix Hospitals Affiliated Pediatric Programs in 1975. Board Certified in Pediatrics in 1977. August 2000 marked 25 years at Northwest Clinic for Children. His wife, Susan, and their four children are very active in the outdoors – enjoying skiing, backpacking, mountain biking and jogging.

Kristin Kaus, M.D.

Dr. Kaus earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Arizona. She graduated in 1994 and then continued her pediatric training at the Phoenix Children’s Maricopa County Medical Center Pediatric Residency. She has been board certified in Pediatrics since 1997.Her husband, Pat, is a Peoria firefighter. They have 3 children. Dr. Kaus enjoys being with her family, ballet, and skiing.

Karen L. Kennedy, M.D.

Dr. Kennedy graduated from Arizona State University in 1985 with a chemistry degree. She attended Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in Chicago, IL, graduating in 1990 and completed her residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois 1993. Dr. Kennedy has been board-certified in pediatrics since 1993. Her husband, Jeff, is an American Airlines pilot and they have two grown children. Dr. Kennedy enjoys travel, outdoor activities and baking.

Pamela Bingham, M.D.

Dr. Bingham is a native Phoenician earning her undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in 1983. After practicing as a CPA for eight years, Dr. Bingham attended the University of Arizona Medical School graduating in 1995. Dr. Bingham completed pediatric training at the combined Phoenix Children’s Maricopa County Medical Center Pediatric Residency program. She is board certified in pediatrics. She loves to spend time with Kurt and their five grown children. In her free time, she rides and trains Arabian horses to compete in endurance riding.

David Galles, M.D.

Dr. Galles was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 in electrical engineering. After working for General Motors for 4 years, he decided to go back to school to be a Pediatrician. Dr. Galles graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and did his residency training here in Phoenix. Dr. Galles is board certified in Pediatrics. Before coming to Northwest Clinic for Children, Dr. Galles worked in the pediatric emergency department at Maricopa Medical Center.

Physicians Assistant

Shantala Mask PA-C

Shantala Mask has been practicing certified physician assistant for almost 20 years and has worked in pediatrics for the past eight. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in biology in 1999 and is still a proud Wildcat. She then graduated from Midwestern University (Glendale campus)with her degree in BMS of Physician Assistant Studies in 2002, and then completing her Masters in health professional education a few years later. Shantala is a God mother of six children JoJo, Morgan, Isaiah, Shekinah, Hezekiah and Khi. She enjoy spending time with her family, leading her praise and worship team at church, watching movies, golfing, and taking care of her fish and frogs.

Nurse Practitioners

Kitty Dessenberger, PNP

Following a lifetime dream of working with children and their families, Kitty received a BSN degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in 1992. After working several years at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, she pursued further pediatric education at ASU and completed the master of nursing with MSN program in 1997. Since that time she has been employed at NWCC as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. During her free time, kitty enjoys traveling with family and friends.

Stacey Toben, MS, CPNP

Stacey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from ASU in 1994, and completed the Master’s of Science and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at ASU in 1998. She has worked at Maricopa Medical Center and in private practice since graduating. Stacey and her husband Chuck have 4 children. In their spare time they enjoy spending time with family and their numerous pets.
